And breathe. Last Monday I made a determined decision to make a conscious effort to be in every moment of this week. Not just going through the motions of day-to-day life but experiencing the days, hours, minutes with full and deliberate intention.
I’ve finished the week happy and with an overwhelming content feeling but I’m also SO tired. This weekend I need to replenish and recharge. After years of parenting and experiencing the early morning get ups I have difficultly sleeping in. That coupled with a whirring mind that is stubborn when I
School holidays are over. We confronted our first week back at school head on armed with lunches packed the night before and early nights for all, including me. And guess what?! We won!!!!
If you follow me on Facebook and/or instagram you would know by now how much I love our little cottage. We have called this place home for 7 months now. I felt settled that day I carried our first removal box inside. I am a little home body. I love being here. I love pottering around indoors and out. I love that I can work on our little garden and cultivate our veggie patch and know that whatever we do we will be here to see the tomatoes ripen, the herbs grow and the flowers bloom. I love that I can now plan and design a photo wall and fill it full of memories for years to come and fill our little space with our collective style. I love that we will create memories here with family and friends indefinitely.
On our Sunday, while I was waiting for some of my poster commissions to dry (may I add, not so patiently…) I decided to grab my art journal and put together this quick page about our beloved little cottage. The photo was taken the day our cottage became ours. The sketch was a 3×4 card out of Amy Tangerine’s Plus One Project Life kit, and the quote was one I found on Pinterest light years ago. The hand written quote is from my best friend. She recently posted a pic of her beautiful home on Instagram and captioned those words.
Creating this page took all day. Not because it was time intensive, hence why I love art journaling, as it’s as quick and easy or as detailed and complicated as your mood takes you. For me, most visits, it’s a quick fix. I think that if I didn’t have the, what I fondly and lovingly refer to as “life interruptions”, I could have created this simple page in minutes. As it was my four babes needed feeding and loving and I had a sudden urge to re-bark chip my little garden… See? Life interruptions (fond ones, loving ones).
Enjoy your Monday everyone. xxx
