Hello Monday!

It’s the beginning of the week. A fresh start. Hit the ground running people. It’s the only way. x

Today Ellie pops in with an extra piece of inspiration for you using the Polka Dot Creative mini kit called “XO”.

Hi PDC family,

It’s Ellie here and today I’m sharing a wedding card I made using the fabulous ‘&’ symbol card from the “XO” mini kit.

IMG_4492

Start making this card by stitching the ‘&’ symbol on the card. Then ink the edges of the tag. Taking some Dear Lizzy 5th and Frolic triangle paper called 6th and Maple (currently on sale here) cut it to fit the front of a standard size card. Do not adhere yet. Distress the edges then ink with yellow.

Image

Then cut a section of a gold doily from Maggie Holmes gold vellum doily.

Stack the 6th and Maple triangle paper, a doily, the tag, and then tuck the piece of gold doily between the doily and tag so you can see it. Adhere these together but not to the card base. This is so the back of your stitching can’t be seen. Taking the Amy Tangerine alphabet stitching template mark your letters one at a time. I found it easier to do one letter at a time for alignment purposes. After I stitching all the letters, adhere the layers to the card base. Using the Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party stickers arrange them on the card as desired. Use foam dots behind some of the hearts for dimension.  Use some Dear Lizzy Neapolitan ribbon currently on sale at 50% off here. Add a few sequins for a bit of sparkle. Punch a butterfly out of some of the vellum and adhere to card. Use some bakers twine tie to the top of the card and you have finished.

I hope you enjoy making something fun like a card, with any one of the gorgeous kits available at Polka Dot Creative.

Create and enjoy and remember to have fun!

Till next time, Ellie x

Around here and mini kit giveaway winner! (finally).

Hello Friday!

This week has thankfully gone quickly. My babes have been holidaying with their dad. They are having a ball but I’m ready for them to come home on Sunday.

Around here…

jotmagazine

It started with a lovely face-to-face meeting with Kim of Jot Magazine. Such an inspirational person. {Kim! We didn’t take a photo, can you believe that?!}

I went on a road trip to see my cousins and Aunty with my sister and her babes.

It was good to get away and connect with three woman who I love so very much.

I’ve continued to unpack around here and re-arranged my office, again. I love moving furniture around. NB: my office now looks very different to what it looks like above 🙂

I did a little retail therapy today and purchased Amy Tangerine’s new bag, Navy Jack. I can’t wait to receive it. I’m going to treat it as my ‘portable office’. (*insert happy sigh*).

I got word today that the new collections from Amy Tangerine, Dear Lizzy and Maggie Holmes will be sent to me today. Will be receiving the entire collections mid next week.

Those of you who pre-ordered – you will be receiving your final invoice early next week. Once final payment is made I will send out your much anticipated goodies to you. Project Life products are still a few weeks away.

If you didn’t place a pre-order, don’t panic. I ordered lots of extra stock.

Do you remember back in August I had a giveaway for the mini kit above? Here’s the post. Today I finally picked a winner… (*insert sheepish giggle*).

CONGRATULATIONS | Belinda Who wrote: It is very kind of you to be doing a give away when you are in the middle of packing to move house . All the best with the move x

Belinda contact me via email on jodie@polkadotcreative.com.au with your contact details and I’ll get your mini kit out to you asap.

I plan to get back to releasing my mini kits. Time has been consumed by the the Documenting December kit. If you haven’t already, you can pre-order yours here.

I hope you’ve all enjoyed your Friday! x

Project Life 2013 | Week Eight.

Hello Monday!

Welcome to my Project Life 2013 | Week Eight.

We celebrated William’s 10th birthday during week eight. I have a 10 year old? How did that happen??

For my week eight I used patterned paper from the new Dear Lizzy collection Lucky Charm and an assortment of embellishments that were on my work bench.

The left side. I had a lot of fun with the patterned papers from Lucky Charm. When you think of Dear Lizzy you might instantly think ‘girly’ but, as you can see here, the collection can be used to document the ‘everyday’ of both the males and females in our lives.

The title card. You know how I love creating these. The patterned paper is called Noteworthy from the new Lucky Charm collection. The arrow, flair button, cardboard quote bubble and ticket are all from an old Studio Calico kit, and the gorgeous Studio Calico Star wood veneers are back in my store now.

Henry has the best expressions. xxx

Again I used the wood veneer Stars and a sticker is an Adhesive Label from the Pebbles collection called Seen and Noted. That arrow stamp is from the ‘Yesterday’ stamp set by Give a Girl a Stamp.

Here I used the new Amy Tangerine wooden stamp set called Document. I LOVE it. I have always said that my favourite stamp set of all time was the Graphic 45 stamp set but I think I have just found my new fave. I have a limited amount in stock but I’m expecting more this week. I snuck another one of Give a Girl a Stamp’s arrow stamp on that card too.

Henry is rocking his music classes! I’m also loving them… Lots of bouncing around, shaking bells and banging on tambourines. Awesome stuff!

For this card I used the new thickers from Studio Calico’s new collection Here and There, which I continued to use throughout my layout, and a 4 x 6 piece of the Wishbone patterned paper from Dear Lizzy’s Lucky Charm collection.

The right side with William’s birthday insert down.

This is what is under the insert. The photos that I took of William on his birthday were with my iPhone. The photos that were taken inside and at night didn’t turn out so well so I converted them into black and white while in iPhoto. I love how easily you can do that and how arty the result can look.

I used more of the Star wood veneer pieces inside the pocket of William’s photo. I didn’t get my sewing machine out to secure their pocket in place. Instead I pulled out my trusty Tiny Attacher to quickly do the job. You can see a few of the wood veneer made their way into the photo pocket but I really don’t mind.

That photo of William and his Grandad (my dad) is precious. They shared a treasured moment together. I popped their photo onto a 4 x 6 card cut from the Lucky Charm patterned paper called Wishbone.

Those other two are just simply NUTS!…

Think Happy Thoughts. A simple end and a darn good idea, right?

Thanks for taking a look at my week eight.

Have a wonderful start to the week everyone! xxx

PS | Can I share with you how excited I am to be flying off to Queensland this weekend to meet, face to face, some of the members of our Project Life Australia Group!!?? Looking forward to it so, so much girls!!!

CREATIVE TEAM | Lucky Charm from Dear Lizzy by Kellie.

Hello Friday!

We made it through another week.

I had my fair share of challenges with week but I m proud to say that I have made it through to the other side and that I’m looking forward to chilling out over the weekend.

Time for some more awesome inspiration from Polka Dot’s Creative Team member Kellie from Give a Girl a…

(I've changed the name from Design to Creative.
Sounds better...)

This is Kellie’s week five of her Project Life journey. She has used patterned paper from the new Dear Lizzy collection called Lucky Charm.

And on this beautiful card Kellie has used Bright Bouble and Wishbone. I love her stitching! You can pick up her sketches of this card on her blog here.

The patterned papers that Kellie has used in these two project are:

Noteworthy and Wild Hearts

…and Dreamcatcher and Wishbone.

Thank you Kellie for sharing your work with us. xxx

Have a wonderful Friday all! x
