April 2013 Mini Kit available now!

Hello Sunday!

So I told everyone that I would be releasing my April mini kit by the end of the week. All my beautiful collaborators had their products in to me on time (thank you!) but life got hectic with the last day of term etc blah and the release didn’t happen. Bummer.

Then in the early hours of this morning I instagrammed that the release would be today. I even through in a ‘promise’. Well, technically I’m being true to my word, however, I know that you all wanted it sooner. I’m so sorry and thank you so much for your patience. xxx

Here it is!

My April 2013 Polka Dot Creative mini kit was inspired by my new found love of the month. The Snippets collection from Studio Calico. Included in the collection is a patterned paper called ‘Me Oh My’. It has 12 really fun 3 x 4 cards and the colours are scrumptious. It also includes a bit of black which I love working with. The mini kit easily came together from there with the beautiful help of Karen. Thank you my friend. xxx

My April mini kit includes:

4 different 4 x 6 patterned papers, 2 cards of each, including ‘Remember’ from Amy Tangerine’s new collection Yes, Please, ‘The Good Life’ also from Amy Tangerine, ‘Newsprint’ from the Classic Calico 2 collection, and ‘Silly’ from the Heyday collection also by Studio Calico.

1 handmade tag my friend Karen. Karen has a beautiful blog called Audrey and Bear.

3 vellum Chaos Cards from our very own Documenting Chaos.

1 Cherry Flair camera flair button from our very own A Piece of Cake Designs.

Approximately 16 inches of twine. (Please note that the colours vary. You will have the possibility of received either blue, black, red, orange or pink bakers twine).

10 blue self adhesive dots.

2, 3 x 4 cards from the  ‘Me Oh My’ patterned paper from the Snippets collection by Studio Calico. (Please note that the 2 cards are individually selected to make sure that the 2 cards co-ordinate with each other).

2 wooden mini pegs.

1, 3 x 4 yellow Chevron Overlay from Hambly Screen Prints.

1 packet of yellow tiny alpha stickers from Cosmo Cricket.

All the embellishments come in a glassine bag which is also great to use in your project.

Don’t forget that if you wish to purchase a VERTICAL version of this mini kit please let me know in the comments section of the PayPal part of your purchase and I will custom make your mini kit just for you.

A big thank you to Karen, Sarah and Raquel for your collaborations. As always such a wonderful, fun experience working with you girls. xxx

Thank you so much for you continued enthusiasm and support with my mini kits. I know I have said it before many, many times but I really, REALLY mean it.

I’ll be on my little lonesome for the next 5 days while my beautiful babes go on their next adventure with their dad so you’ll be ‘seeing’ a lot from me. Thank goodness for my ‘creative place’ during these quiet times.

Bye for now! xxx

Polka Dot Creative MINI KITS are available for only $15, $20 including postage if purchased on its own. If purchased with other products the postage will be charged according to the usual Shipping Policy. Please note that not every kit is the same. The patterned paper and designs on embellishments etc will vary however each mini kit contains exactly the same amount of product.

January 2013 A Photo a Day | Daybook Completed.

Good morning Monday!

My A Photo a Day January journey is over. It was a fun month although I have to admit, a didn’t always take the photo on that particular day. Sometimes I had to play catch up. You might call it cheating but I call it adapting 😉 I really enjoyed trying to be a bit creative with my interpretation of the prompts which just added to the fun.

I created this daybook at the beginning of the month and have added my photos to it as the month has gone along. I didn’t work on it each day. I usually would just print out a weeks worth and sit down and slap them in.  You’ll notice as you look at the photos below that the only journaling is the day, the prompt and a brief description of the photo. There is also no embellishing. I couldn’t bare to think that the photos from this challenge wouldn’t have a home but at the same time I wanted this little project to be really quick to complete.

Each month I plan on printing out the prompts from the Fat Mum Slim website and placing them on the first page.

The small piece of patterned paper that the days and prompts are written on are just scraps from when I made the daybook. You can use anything, or even nothing.

I used patterned papers from the Seen and Noted collection by Pebbles Inc. For February I’m going to use a completely different collection all together.

I enjoyed not worrying if the patterned paper complemented the photo that was placed on it and I loved how quick and easy it was to put together.

I could not believe that the photo prompt for day twenty-one (what do you do), fell randomly onto a page of polka dots. Is coincidence made me smile.

Another thing I liked about this project was that everyday things that sometimes seem pretty boring and routine ended up appearing in a photo and looking pretty great. Like my iPhone charger. I might as well be attached to this thing and never really saw it as anything other then a necessary piece of equipment but to look at it from this angle was kind of cool.

On day twenty-seven the sun prompt fell on a grey day full of rain. I took a screen shot on my iPhone of the weather update instead.

More rain on day twenty-eight and a bit of flooding in our house.

The end. The daybook turned out to be a decent thickness even without embellishments which I love.

This particular daybook measures 4 x 6 and so I printed my photos at 3 x 3. It all seemed to come together nicely so I will be continuing what I did for January through February as well but with a different paper collection.

If you would like a daybook for your A Photo a Day journey I can whip one up for you for $10 plus postage. Just visit my Polka Dot Pieces category in my store.

Do you want to get involved too? Go to the Fat Mum Slim website and grab your February list of photo prompts. It’s never too late to start. If you would like to check out my photos for February that I have taken so far I’m on Instagram under polkadotcreative.
