December Kit for 2014.
Project Life Product Giveaway | Winner and Another!
Hello Wednesday!
Creative Team | A weekend layout with Anna.
Hello Tuesday!
Anna shares with us a traditional layout that she created over the weekend. It is adorable!
Hey lovely ones!
Anna here. Just a mini share of a layout I made over the weekend.
I have been looking back through photos as I have been organising my studio – YEP, it’s still a work-in-progress. I have ALOT of stuff! LOL!
Anyway, I have come across a few photos of my man and me. Now, having two kids, I have been scrapping THEM predominantly. This got me thinking about the future – when we look back on my memory keeping and documenting of our family; that many of my kids’ life moments will be recorded but when it comes to my husband and I, there wouldn’t actually be much. I want OUR story to be told too; how our individual lives came together and made a life as a family. Our journey is important as well. And it is also a way for me to write down how I feel about him and the moments we have shared in our lifetime.
So I have been rectifying this situation and scrapping the story of us – me and my man. These kind of layouts are actually even more special to scrapbook considering the fact that hubby doesn’t really like many photos taken of him but he indulges me sometimes and lets me snap away, giving me his dazzling smile that I love so much.
But that’s enough soppy stuff 🙂
Here is my layout…
I have used an 8.5”x11” format to record this memory. This year, I have been mixing things up abit and experimenting with new formats and sizing. I’m loving the variety.
I am the kind of person that can’t chuck things out that I could find a use in my crafty creative endeavours. With this in mind, you can understand why the red and tan striped paper that was once wrapping paper is now the background for this layout! LOL. 🙂
I also love paint splatterings. Here I have used white gesso to add a painted mat for my photo and then random paint splatterings here and there over the page. I LOVE the effect!
My photo is backed with some kraft card packaging (yep – again, no waste. It didn’t deserve to go in the bin!). I have used a 4”x6” journal card positioned vertically behind my photo which had a date section on the top which I used to record the date the photo was taken.
I love clusters of embellishments and layers. I also like balance – although it wouldn’t seem so when looking at this layout. The embellishment cluster is heavily directed to the top right corner but my attempt to even that out was to add my own handwritten journaling to the bottom left corner PLUS a title reading ‘you & me’. I have used stamping in black ink in the bottom right corner so evened that out by including the black stamps in the top left. It’s just the way I seem to work most of the time when putting a page together. 🙂
Products used for embellishing:
- OCTOBER AFTERNOON 9 to 5 Flower Sack die-cut shapes (purchased from PDC)
- DEAR LIZZY Accent & Phrase Stickers (purchased from PDC)
- STUDIO CALICO Printed Tags (purchased from PDC)
- STUDIO CALICO accent stickers
- STUDIO CALICO chipboard hearts – green
- ELLE’S STUDIO wood veneers
- KELLIE STAMPS Magical stamp set – March 2014 release
- STUDIOfourteen40 flair badge
I hope you have enjoyed my layout share. Maybe next time you scrap you can pull out the gesso or any other craft paint you like and use on your page. Or use leftover scraps/packaging/paper offcuts to incorporate onto your page.
Do share with us here at Polka Dot Creative if you do – share a pic of your project on our Facebook page or blog about it and post a link so that we can check it out. We would love to see all YOUR work too. 🙂
Happy Creating!
Anna 🙂

Creative Team Call.
Hello Sunday!
Well it’s the first of December and I’m so excited on so many levels. Today we kick of our December Daily project. I’m ready to go. Can’t wait to share my day one with you tomorrow and, of course, to see your day one too!
2013 has been a big year for Polka Dot Creative. There have been changes, huge learning curves, growth and fun.
I have big plans for my little boutique memory keeping store and for the Polka Dot Creative world in general. One of those plans is to put together a small creative team. My team will consist of 4 people who are willing to share their creative lives with us all on a monthly basis.
For the next 2 weeks I will be accepting applications from anyone in Australia for the following 4 positions:
CREATIVE TEAM MEMBER | my main requirement is that you must have a love of sharing, creating and inspiring.
I will be asking you to contribute 2 engaging and inspiring posts per month.
Your posts can be about any topic that relates to our beautiful world of memory keeping including, but definitely not limited to, Project Life, traditional scrapbooking, organisation, card/tag making, home decor, journaling, daybooks, and/or a general craft project. Anything! They don’t have to be big ones but they must be inspirational.
You don’t have to be an ultra experienced memory keeper but you do need to be passionate.
I will also ask that at least 2 products from my store are used in each post.
The 2 positions for the Creative Team are for 6 months beginning in January 2014.
TUTORIAL WRITERS | Everyone loves to know ‘how’ right? So I am also calling for 2 people who would like to be Tutorial Writers for Polka Dot Creative.
You will be required to submit 1 tutorial a month.
Ideally I would love your tutorials to be presented as videos but step-by-step photos and detailed written instructions are great too.
As Tutorials Writers you must provide easy to follow, step-by-step instructions for techniques used in memory keeping, photography, and/or a general craft projects. I want you to include all levels of techniques, from beginner through to expert, breaking them down into understandable chunks so that we can all feel as though we too can create the project you are sharing.
The 2 positions for Tutorial Writers are for 6 months beginning in January 2014.
BE BRAVE, BE YOU | Above all if you want to be a member of the Polka Dot Creative team must be you. I want you to share your creativity and inspiration freely and to be proud of what you are achieving and sharing.
In return for your creativity, work, precious time and love I will send you with free product to use and I will help spread the word of your creative world by linking your blog/website/etc throughout the length of your stay as team member.
So what do you think? Interested?
HOW TO APPLY | All applications are to be submitted via email to jodie@polkadotcreative.com.au with either CREATIVE TEAM APPLICATION or TUTORIAL WRITER APPLICATION written in the subject line.
This is the info I need from you.
