GOODNIGHT. SLEEP TIGHT.
Managing my rest is one of my biggest challenges as a working mama. I have four beautiful babes. I run a thriving natural health business from home. I’m a bit challenged by time so when the house is quiet (eventually) it is easy for me to either work or catch up on domestic bliss way into the night. I have the reputation as a natural night owl. Combine all these things and I can become very tired very quickly. This then leads to getting run down, my immune system drops and I inevitably get the sniffles. Not to mention the no-so-attractive dark circles and bags under the eyes.
Ideally we should all have 8 hours of solid, uninterrupted sleep. Ha! If I can’t get that amount then the next best thing for me is to try and make whatever amount of sleep I get count. I need it to be deep, good quality sleep. This is what I turn to to help my cause. A beautiful, gentle combination of essential oils to help me calm, relax and shut off.
LAVENDER PEACE/SERENITY. The Oil of Forgiveness. This calming blend contains essential oils that are often used to help calm and soothe worrisome feelings both minor and extreme in order to help the body maintain it’s natural state of health. When our minds are challenged our bodies respond with our cortisol levels go crazy inhibiting our ability to maintain a healthy metabolism and mindset.
This beautiful blend is made up of Lavender, Sweet Marjoram, Roman Chamomile, Ylang Ylang, Hawaiian Sandalwood and Vanilla Bean extract.
The emotional support that this calming blend can bring is divine. It helps to calm, promote feelings of acceptance, forgiveness and compassion and helps to open us up to being more receptive and tenderhearted.
At night I apply Lavender Peace topically on my temples. Any excess on my hands I rub onto my pillow.
JUNIPER BERRY. The Oil of Night. This essential oil evokes feelings of health, love and peace and elevate spiritual awareness. Fabulous for meditation for those who practice. (PS you all should be!). Juniper Berry helps our digestive systems and nervous systems. If both of these are in check it’s only natural that the quality of our sleep will benefit right? The emotional support of Juniper Berry includes feeling protected, courageous, and increases our self awareness.
I apply Juniper Berry my forehead, over my third eye. I also inhale the aroma from my hands. By this time the aroma is mixed with the Lavender Peace and I can tell you right now, the smell is divine.
VETIVER. One of my favourite oils. From the beginning I have been drawn to the essential oils that have an earthy, woody aroma. They are typically your centring and emotionally connecting oils helping you feel grounded and rooted in life. Vetiver can be experienced aromatically and taken internally. At night I apply one drop of Vetiver to each big toe. Gentle passaged right into each big toe, applying firm pressure. Hey, don’t knock it til you’ve tried it.
Reflex Therapy is a powerful way to experience the amazing benefits of essential oils. It also feels divine! When we apply the oils to the contact points or nerve endings in our feet and/or hands we experience vibrational healing because the oil is carried along our neuroelectrical pathways either helping to remove any blockage along the pathways or they will travel the length of the pathway to benefit the particular organ in need of help. The big toe is connected to our brain. Applying my glorious Vetiver to my big toe will help to soothe and quieten my overthinking mind. Yes please!
