2015 was a big year. William was in his final year at primary school, Henry started Kindergarten and both Stella and Scarlett were going full steam head with life. I knew I needed every little ounce of energy to be the best mum I could be for these four beautiful beings. So I quietened my life right down. I went back to focusing on what was directly in front of me not what I thought I wanted or needed. I made a conscious decision to wake up every morning, do yoga and simply be grateful for who and what I had in my life. It’s had a profound effect on my days, which became weeks, which became months, which – with the blink of an eye – became the whole of 2015. Being intentionally in a constant awareness of gratitude put me in, well, a good mood. I began to notice so much that was fabulous and juicy and joyful in my life. Things and people that were already around me and opportunities that were being laid down before me on my life journey. I became less worried about what was going to happen in the future and instead, found myself comforted and inspired by simply the ‘now’. How could things worry me when there was so much to be grateful for? See what I did there…lol.
Now it’s 2016 and I’m already doing it all over again but this year I’m going to add a visual gratitude journal to my practice. I love taking photos so each day I’m going to take a pic of something that I was grateful for on that day and post it on my instagram space @jodie.york My short journaling will begin with the words 2016 Today I am grateful for… I’m not the first to do something like this and I hope I’m not the last. The benefits to your mind, and therefore you body, are incredible. Don’t believe me? Try it, you’ll see. Join me, for at least the next 30 days, using the hashtag #2016todayiamgratefulfor and see what happens.
See you there! XO
