The Turtle has (Finally) Cracked 30!
My word for this year is ‘strength’ and one of my goals was to increase my physical strength by improving my fitness. Since the beginning of the year I have taken up my love of running and started practicing yoga again.
As far as goals for my running I’ve set the bar high, probably too high. I want to be able to run 5km in 25 mins. For the longest time I couldn’t even crack 30 – until this morning. (Oh yes my friends…I can hear the Chariots of Fire theme song too…lol). 28 mins 52 secs.
I can’t tell you how good I feel, mainly because I’m absolutely shattered, but I am so excited. I have that hunger back to keep going. After the break of school term it took me a few weeks to get back into routine but reaching this mini goal has given my enthusiasm such a huge boost. It takes a lot of effort for me to continue this plan in between being a mum and life in general. Sometimes I have to sneak in a run or yoga practice at really bizarre times of the day and/or night. Where there’s a will there’s a way right?
The last time I wrote about my running efforts was way back in February. The post was appropriately called ‘I’m slower than a herd of turtles stampeding through peanut butter’.
Now it is May and this little turtle is finally on the move!
Even though I’m a couple of prompts behind on the project you can see my One Little Word journey thus far and why I have chosen ‘strength’ as my word here.
