Tutorial | Confetti (or Shaker) Pockets.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for being as excited about our very first Documenting December kit as Kellie and I. We so happy with how it’s all turned out. The kit packed up beautifully. I had a ball spending time putting all the bits and bobs into the little glassine and brown paper bags, making the confetti pockets and sewing the tags. Seriously, I was in heaven.
Start with a baseball card page protector. Once cut up, the pockets are the perfect size to slip into a 3×4 pocket. You’re essentially going to sew around each pocket but leave the top open so that you can fill them. A quick way to do this is by sewing straight up the sides of the rows and across the bottom of each row of pockets. Remember to sew either side of the pocket leaving a track between each one which you will eventually cut up the middle.
Grab your contents. You can use absolutely anything in your confetti pockets. Sequins, wood veneers, die cuts, punched out shapes, vellum, anything! Confetti pockets are a fabulous place for left over bits and pieces that you might have floating around in your stash. I find it easier to put the contents into big bowls. Easy to pick up. Sometimes I even use a spoon to fill the pockets. I feel like I’m in a lolly shop filling lolly bags.
Don’t over fill your pockets. If you over fill them the contents won’t have enough room to move around. It also makes it easier to sew up the top if your pocket isn’t too bulky.
Once all the pockets are filled seal them by sewing along the top of each row. Don’t sew too close to the tops of the pockets otherwise they will pop open.
So pretty. Once the are all sealed it’s time to cut your pockets up.
Simply cut up the middle of the tracks. Be careful not to cut too close to the stitching otherwise they will split open.
You can put them into page protectors or on the front of daybooks, cards, anything. They are a lot of fun and easy to make. See, I told you! 🙂

Have a great day! xxx
